- This is the approach I use (while it's still legal). It's not as great
- as it sounds though. On the plus side, there is no vision impairment, and
- no loss of stereo hearing perception (I can't tell what direction a
- sound is coming from with my full face on). On the minus side, there is
- a significant increase in wind noise over the full face, and some increase
- in wind drag.
-
- In experiments I conducted in a freedom loving state some years ago
- comparing a fullface (Kiwi), and open face, and no face^H^H^H^Hhelmet,
- I found that I experenced the least wind noise with no helmet on. There
- is also a significant drop in wind drag (and hence fatigue) with no helmet.
- On top of that I felt buck naked and tended to drive at lower speeds.
- After a week of riding mostly helmetless, putting the bucket back on
- was like attaching a sail to my head.
-
- Experiments conducted with my head, a 1977 Harley Sportster and the
- beautiful back roads somewhere above Bangor Maine.
- Your head, helmet, bike, riding position, and environment, may vary.
