- >motowear lacks grotex

- I'm inclined to think the cordura probably does as much for the Aero's
- waterproofing as the Grotex. My experience of Grotex is that its very good
- as long as you dont actually use it outdoors or anything. I have tried to
- do this often in seroius conditions and failed regularly. I was talking to
- a dealer in an outdoor shop (who actually gives the stuff he sells very hard
- use) and apparently goretex under cordura is a no-no. Sand and stuff easily
- work thru the open weave of the cordura and perforate the very thin goretex
- membrane. This is why the outdoor world have largely dumped cordura/gortex
- now. I have an Aero on order, but purely for the proven abrasion resistance.
- To me, the gortex is pure expensive pedantry that I'd rahter do without.
-
- Beware the Goretx/Kevlar marketing scam. They sell things very well to
- folk that dont know better and are impressed by gratuitous technology
- but neither is optimal for biking. They do add lots of dollars to the
- price tho, so the yuppies love them.
-
- I believe the Kevlar thing was mentioned earlier by someone.
