- As you may or may not know, the EC will impose power limits, noise limits,
- emissions limits and safety limits within the next 12 months. There are
- more detailed descriptions in the latest issues of BIKE and PB that i've
- just received.
-
- I'm not opposed to the emissions limits being proposed (who would??) but
- I am opposed to the power limit which is being introduced by the EC on the
- mistaken assumption that less power=less accidents. The DOT agrees that
- this is a mistaken assumption but they are not opposing it because they
- do not wish to upset other member states.
-
- It would be a good idea if you wrote to your MP and MEP (ask your local
- party office (in the phone book) for names/addresses or just write to
- your MP at the House of Commons, Westminster, London) and tell them that
- you oppose this legislation and that you wish them to actively oppose it
- too. Every letter helps! Get your friends to write!
-
- Other "gems" of legislation coming up include the banning of custom petrol
- tank caps - so you don't rip your nuts off in an accident, as if the clocks
- and bars don't do the same! The articles in BIKE and PB urge everybody to
- join the BMF/MAG/FEM as soon as possible or it may be too late.
-
- I've seen a few folks with MAG numbers, maybe they could provide some
- more info about this.
-
- Cheers
-
- Kevin.
