  20. Because (at least in my experience) visibility doesn't determine whether
  21. an automobile driver will notice you.

  27. As far as this helmet thing is concerned, I, too, am one of those people who
  28. simply cannot fathom the act of getting on a motorcycle without a helmet.
  29. But I realize it is pointless to argue about it.  Once I tried to convince
  30. an ambulance driver that everyone (and she, in particular) should wear a 
  31. helmet--especially a full-faced helmet--when riding a motocycle.  I was 
  32. strapped to a spine-board on my way to the emergency room with a minor 
  33. concussion, and my helmet (with its fractured, abraded face) was rolling
  34. around in the back of the ambulance, so I thought I had a particularly
  35. compelling argument.
