  18. Library of Congress Number 85-81540.  No ISBN number!

  20. Subtitled:  Being a collection of pre-1930 motorcycle memorabilia,
  21. featuring scores of US. Makes and models for the enjoyment and
  22. edification of collectors, restorers, active bikers and those who
  23. wished they were!

  25. This book happened my way as a gift.  I do not where it was purchase
  26. nor how much it cost.

  28. It is one neat book.

  30. This book consists of 128 pages of old advertisements, photos and a
  31. little bit of written history about the period.  The ads grab your eyes
  32. and you can't stop.  Did you know that there was an ad for HD that
  33. went:  "This Harley-Davidson does the work of Three horses!"  and
  34. "Harley Davidson, the motorcycle with a new way of starting." which
  35. "Rides like a touring car" and "Runs extremely quiet!"

  39. Did you know that:

  41. Mobiloil has been around since year one and went under the logo of
  42. _Gargoyle_.

  44. Goodyear once held the motorcycle speed record for tires by covering
  45. 83 miles 135 yds in exactly 60 minutes.

  47. You could get full body rain suits for bikers for about $4.

  49. You could get a Pope motorcycle for $165 that weighed 160 and had
  50. 4 hp!

  52. In 1913 Indian had 1500 dealers in the US. and featured a 7 hp twin

  55. Belt drives were common. For example the Thiem line for 1912 had
  56. both v-belt and flat belt models.  And 28 inch wheels.

  59. motorcycles.

  62. bikes and I have a hard time putting this one down.
