-
- They are still making them today...Or at least they are still
- selling brand new ones in Yamaha dealerships in Canada.
-
- I own one.
-
- The suspension is actually pretty good, and by upgrading the
- shock, it can be made better. The real problem with the RZ is
- that the frame and steering geometry are simply too conservative
- to make full use of today's tires.
-
- The RZ is a first rate motorcycle, fast, sweet handling, light
- and pretty...The only real drawbacks are emmissions (two strokes
- do pollute, I'm afraid, though the new tech coming out will
- put a stop to that), and really shitty gas mileage.
-
- I would be willing to guess that a totally reworked RZ350,
- fresh from the drafting table, would run circles around anything
- up to a GSXR750. The weight advantage of the simple motor,
- the compact nature of the engine, and the fact that you get twice
- as many power strokes (bang whoosh bang whoosh, as opposed to
- bang whoosh compress bang whoosh compress bang), make it an
- inherently superior design for power production.
-
- The compact nature of the motor allows it to be more
- advantageously placed in the frame for handling
- improvements.
-
- Wonderful bikes.
