- A libertarian philosophy, neither donkey nor elephant (nor ears), that
- one.
-

-
- Not the vice versa part. The pro-life lobby would claim that abortion
- does not fit into your qualifier of "does not hurt their neighbor," as
- they believe the fetus to have human status, and thus it qualifies as a
- "neighbor."
-
- > It is not so... at least among politicians.
-
- Politicians aren't consistant between their alleged ideals and their
- voting. Gee, I know *I'm* shocked!
-
- >More Democrats than Republicans are pro-choice when it comes
- >to abortions, but not helmets.
-
- Democrats in general believe in more government regulation, and more
- "protection" for the common person, so the helmet law support is not
- surprizing. Their united stance on abortion is atypical, and is
- primarily a direct result of the strong stance the Republican party has
- taken on the issue.
-
- > More Republicans than Democrats
- >are pro-choice when it comes to helmets, but not abortions.
-
- The helmet law stance follows from the Republican philosophy of
- non-governmental interference (which is completely reversed by the WoD,
- I didn't say they were consistent). The abortion stance is the result
- of the fundamentalist right wing of the party playing hardball, and
- does not reflect the concensus of Republicans or Republican politicians
- (according to polls).
