- Yes, this has happened. The public comment period will close early in December,
- I understand. The FAA has proposed an intermediate type of rocket, which falls
- between the old & new limits. For this new type of rocket, you would be
- required to notify the nearest ATC between 24 and 48 hours before launch, but
- no waiver would be required. In addition, you could not launch them within
- something like 5 nautical miles of an airport.

-
- The NAR has asked that we wait until it has responded. It probably would have
- responded *immediately*, as soon as the proposed changes were published, but
- I guess it was taken by surprise -- after several *years* of being told, "It
- will be any second now", the NAR probably learned to take these announcements
- with a grain or two of salt.
-
- So, I think the best thing to do is to wait at least until either (a) the
- NAR responds, and discusses its response to us (preferred mode) or (b) the
- first of December has come and gone, meaning that the public comment period is
- going to end within a few days. I counsel patience until then.
