- I don't know of any purely-defensive martial arts. There are a number
- of "soft" arts, that often use the attacker's energy and motion
- against him. But I still think of that as "offensive": It is an
- intentional act to harm the opponent. The only distinction is whether
- your attack is an action or a reaction.
