Welcome to this newsgroup. As a matter of fact, I found this newsgroup only 3 days earlier than you. I am glad to tell you what I've known up to now about the world of Go.
IGS: Internet Go Server;
Play go across the net: use command "telnet icsib18.icsi.berkeley.edu 6969" (DONT forget the
6969)
from any Unix system on the Internet, make up any user name and password
that
you like (and remember for future use), type "help" and the rest is easy.
However, I found the playing is not that convenient either.
There is also a standard ftp site for go-related material: ftp.u.washington.edu
(directory public/go). You will find lots more material in the README and
