- The outer CV joint comes off by pounding it off with a mallet (the
- older Rabbits had a circlip on them that had to be removed first). I
- guess the circlip on yours can be forced out of its groove with a
- mallet tap. Once it's off you slide the boot off its end of the
- shaft just like the inner joint (albeit the other end). FYI
- Bob Hoys of El Paso, TX sells German boot kits for ~$7.00 (I haven't
- bought any for a while). Tel # 800-289-4697 or (915)-778-5341. You
- do need a special tool to squeeze the clamps on for the new boots,
- (the clamp is the same OEM type).
