  17. I did this on my fathers -74 144
  18. It's a helluva job. However, I decided right away that the car wasn't
  19. worth a new fan so I took the motor apart, cleaned it up, put in new
  20. (whatever you call those pieces of carbon), sanded the copper-thingies
  21. that those carbon thingies touch (Gimme a break - English is my second
  22. language) and lubricated the bearings with silicone grease.  The fan
  23. worked flawlessly for the 6 years he had the car after that.

  25. I think people often put in new motors when the old ones could easily
  26. and cheaply be repaired. Unless the bearings are completely worn out
  27. or the windings burned, fixin' a motor is an easy job.
