  16. Previous posters answered this beautifully.  I'll add that a car with
  17. these adaptive systems may run quite poorly for some time after the
  18. battery power is interrupted.  So if your battery is disconnected,
  19. be sure to wait for 100 miles or so before deciding that things aren't
  20. quite right.
