- I will try again. I was curious if there was more wear and tear
- in shifting into and out of drive then just leaving it in.

- You must have tuned in late. There was a recent flurry of posts that
- said it was a bad thing to shift an automatic transmission into and
- out of gear at every stop light. The posters agreed that the bulk
- of the wear in an automatic transmission occurred during the transient
- phases. Static phases were generally regarded as low wear.
