- Break out the garlic, the silver crosses and the wooden stakes! DON'T DO IT!!!!

- Ok, so maybe this is a personal phobia of mine, but "plastic fantastics" are
- close to the biggest rip-off going. By the time you are through, you will
- have invested as much (or MORE) into a repro Porsche as you would have in
- a good restoration -- REALLY!
-
- Send me e-mail, and I'll try to scrounge up the address for the 356 registry --
- a journal devoted to early Porsches. You might be surprised to find that
- a good 356 Cabriolet can be had for reasonable $$$ -- and is the "deluxe"
- model of the same body style as the Speedster* (you get roll-up windows instead
- of snap-on side curtains -- big deal). Best of all, you have a real antique,
- instead of some piece of fiberglas (tm) crap (non-tm) that only someone in
- polyester and gold chains would feel studly driving. What's more, your
- *restoration* will have solid resale value -- the volks-cum-porsche replicrap
- won't.
-
- Ok, I've made my point (and my enemies).

- *the only reason the Speedster has skyrocketed in value is because it has
- become a west-coast cult car (check out Dylan in "90210" etc.). The Cabriolet
- is actually a nicer car, looks almost the same, and is still (kinda) reasonably
- priced
