- I bought a new '67 GT fastback with the 390 engine in late '66. Took delivery
- around the beginning of November, '66. It was the first car I actually
- ordered the way I wanted it.
-
- The GT package consisted of the following: (I hope I can remember)
-
- Front disk brakes (standard on all 390's)
- Larger sway bars, (front & rear)
- F70X14 Frirestone Wide Oval tires
- Driving lamps mounted in the grill
- Dual chrome exhaust extensions on each pipe (dual exhausts)
- Tachometer mounted in the dash
- Wood grain steering wheel
- Floor console
- Over head console w/map lights
- GT emblems and rocker panel stripes
- GT snap open gas cap
-
- A few months after I took delivery Ford recalled all of the 390's to replace
- the front springs with stiffer ones to accommodate the additional weight of
- the big block.
-
- Everything was included in the GT package for "X" amount of dollars except
- the 390 engine. The 390, 335 HP engine was $153.00 extra. I did opt for the
- louvered hood w/turn indicators (not part of the GT package). Also, the four
- speed was an option. The car cost me around $3,300, (what a bargin!)
-
- Boy, I could go on and on about this car .. a real fun car and pretty damn
- quick. I sold it in '71.
