  13. I was discussing the causes and cures of auto rattles and squeaks
  14. with a classmate.

  16. It occurred to me that the major cause of such things is the dash
  17. board and plethora of load-grade plastics that are used in the dash.
  18. Cars like the BMW and similar German emblems of engineering excellence
  19. use either high-grade rigid plastics or rigid metal in their dashs,
  20. and these are screwed in tight.  The plastic pieces in the econoboxes are
  21. often just snapped in, and the connection sometimes becomes loosened
  22. when the car goes over bumps.

  24. I've finally figured out where that extra $5000 premium (for German
  25. cars) goes.
