- I'll be installing a new amp tomorrow, and in planning out where to
- run all of my wires, I've come across a problem. I am going to have
- to deal with one of two situations:
-
- 1) Running the amp's +12V lead, which will be carrying
- around 25-40 amps, within a couple inches of my
- preamp cable, or
-
- 2) Running the amp's +12V lead about eight feet longer
- than it needs to be in order to avoid the situation
- in (1).
-
- I don't like either of these. I imagine the first will give me
- nasty ignition noise, while the second could cause extra heat in
- the cable and the extra inductance could cause lower a lower
- dI/dt potential (that is, the amp couldn't draw more current as
- rapidly as it would be able to if the power lead were shorter).
-
- So, expert installers, what would you have me do? Thanks for any
- tips..
