  13. I have owned two sets of SS-510s for over two years now, and I have never had
  14. a problem with them.  I live near Chicago where the temperature can range from
  15. -30F to +100F over the course of a year, so these speakers are definitely put
  16. through a rugid temperature extreme test.  They are being powered by 4
  17. channels of an a/d/s/ PH-15 (50W RMS/channel).  After reading your story, I
  18. went out to my car and removed the grills to take a close look at the speakers.
  19. They still look just like new, and they still sound wonderful at any volume.

  21. I also own a SoundStream D200 II amp (100W x 2).  I've had this for over 1
  22. year now, and it has never had a problem either.

  24. Of all my components, the SoundStream and a/d/s gear have been the best in
  25. terms of reliability and performance.  It's unfortunate that you had a bad
  26. exposure to SoundStream.  Were the speakers brand new, or were they demo
  27. models?  As for the amp you may not buy, if it fulfills your needs, then
  28. you shouldn't forget it because of a bad experience with their speakers.

  30. I spoke to a friend of mine about your speaker experience (he's an installer
  31. at a local shop that sells SoundStream), and in the years that he's been 
  32. installing SoundStream equipment (including his own vehicle), he has never
  33. heard of that happening to new speakers.  If they are in fact new, then SS
  34. should replace them with no problems.
