  27. Gosh, I guess I have been lucky then.  I am currently middle class, but I 
  28. grew up in a non middle class neighborhood, went to an inner city school 
  29. (more grafitti than textbooks), had friends and relatives involved in 
  30. drug and alchohol abuse and crime, and spent many a summer night out until 
  31. midnight just messing around with the other kids in the neighborhood - and 
  32. that was before I was 12.  So there are some of us who come from a 
  33. non-Steven Spielberg background.  I believe you when you say that most 
  34. Whovians are middle class, and in the US, that also seems to include a 
  35. racial barrier.  I have seen only a handful of people at Who-conventions 
  36. who were not of European descent.  Why?  Very few role models on the show?  
  37. Hard to say, but a rather interesting question nonetheless.
