- Just a continuation on my theory that Adam West was 'pulling everyone's leg'.
-
- On tonights 'Simpsons', West had a cameo role as himself at a carshow
- (signing autographs). Lisa and Bart don't recognize him, so he shows them
- a picture of him and Robin. Bart's response: Who the hell is Robin? West
- than goes on about the old show being superior to the movie: "Why doesn't
- Batman dance anymore? Remember the Batusi?", "The real Catwoman is Julie
- Neuman, Eartha Kitt, or [one other I forget -me not Adam West]", "I didn't
- need body armour to make my body more impressive when I was Batman, it was
- 100% West" [I have paraphrased brutally here.] During West's trip down
- memory lane, Homer is slowly drawing the kids away, saying "Don't make eye
- contact." Later West is shown driving the old Batmobile. Its starts
- with its jet flame out the back, but once running it gasps and sputters like
- a car on its last legs. As he pulls off you see the muffler is hanging.
-
- Now the writers thought up these gags, but West played the part and agreed to
- this self-mockery. Like I said above, he had a special kind of 'campy' style
- and I think he enjoys poking fun at himself.
