- The old '60s SPIDER-MAN cartoon was produced by the Grantray-
- Lawrence studio (now long since defunct, I think) which also
- produced the syndicated MARVEL SUPER-HEROES cartoons (which I've
- never seen, but I've heard the animation was so limited as to be
- practically non-existent).
-
- My main memory of the Spidey cartoon was that as a fan of the
- comic book I was disappointed with the cartoon, which consisted
- basically of straight action stories with little of the
- character development and soap-opera plotlines of the comic.
- There never has been a really accurate TV adaptation of the
- SPIDER-MAN comic (though the SPIDER-MAN & AMAZING FRIENDS
- cartoon wasn't too bad). It would be great to see someone
- do an animated Spidey which was as well produced and true to
- the original Lee/Ditko comic strip as the current BATMAN show
- is to the BATMAN comics.
