- "Meat free" has nothing to do with it. I specified in my post that
- my girlfriend avoids pork, shellfish, and oyster sauce. There are
- other things as well. She calls this "kosher", as do I. She calls
- the level of observance that you mention "strict kosher", as do
- I. I have always understood that different people pick and choose
- to observe or not observe various components of the dietary laws,
- yet many manage to call themselves "kosher" in one way or another.

- Understanding of (and nomenclature for) my girlfriend's exact dietary
- practices is not necessary for understanding my post. The fact is that
- many observant Jews and Muslims, and many Indians of a variety of faiths
- will not eat pork. It's common enough that I believe restaurants ought
- to list it as an ingredient. Others seem to disagree.
