- My children are 9 and 4. We have been having the kids join us a dinner since
- they were infants. Honestly, I can't imagine a dinner table where all that
- goes on is eatting (especially with the small amount my kids eat :^)) This is
- generally our time to catch up as a family and find out what went on in school
- or at home with the sitter before mom or dad got home. It is also a time for
- sharing special thoughts with on another.
-
- When I was a kid, I was in a family of seven that had dinner together nightly.
- My dad used to play a game at the table of a family quiz. He was the
- quiz master,
- and to answer the question you had to yell 'HERE' loudly, Mom would then choose
- who spoke first and then they got to answer the question, 5 points for
- each correct
- answer the one with the most points at the end of the week got to choose
- the chore
- that he wanted to do that week. It was great fun. Dad did admit to being a
- bit tested when we started in high school to make it a fair game for all
- even the
- littler kids. Dads favorite question was "What are the five islands of
- Hawaii ?"
