- Does anyone have the numbers (or know where I should look)
- for historical US equity fund returns and average annual inflation?
-
- I have written a "401(k)" program, and can plug in annual inflation and
- annual return for the fund, and determine the outcome after the specified
- number of years, adjusting for annual pay increases, starting salary, and a
- consistent gross percentage contribution. Just for fun of course.
-
- I would like to know what the historical annual inflation average is
- and what the S&P 500 equity fund and balanced fund historical annual
- average return is, so I can be more confident in my numbers. I'd like
- 20 year numbers (if S&P tracks that far), or at least 15, to avoid just
- 82 and 87 messing things up.
-
- I know past performance does not guarantee future results. ;-)
-
- Thanks. If this is too much of a hassle a simple pointer to literature
- would be appreciated.
