- I predict interest rates will rise by the end of 1993, and I believe
- inflation will increase. If the economy recovers, inflation will likely
- rise. If the price of an important commodity (such as oil in 1974 and
- 1979) skyrockets, you can bet on a return to double-digit inflation. I
- believe that an economic recovery (even if it only produces annual 3% GNP
- growth) will allow inflation to creep up to 4-5%. However, I strongly
- advise against speculating in precious metals because of the risk.
- Instead, keep a lot of money in money market funds, avoid bonds and CD's
- of more than a 1-year maturity like the plague, and only invest in stocks
- selling below book value (the Graham and Dodd strategy, which I will
- always apply).
