  23. The procedure is called Phresis. Blood is taken from one arm and passes
  24. thru a centrifuge where the blood is separated platelets are sent a bag and
  25. the rest is returned to the other arm. The process takes on average two
  26. hours. You can do this every three days.  The platelets are used for cancer
  27. and leukemia research as well as for hemophiliacs. I started to donate about
  28. three years ago. I donate about once a month, at the local Red Cross center.

  30. The bad part about donating is after being stuck by needles and tubes in my
  31. arms, I always get an itch on my nose! :-)

  33. Where can you do this for money? I like donating, but times are tough and if
  34. certain hospitals and centers are paying for it I'll consider that.
