  15. I am doing preliminary research into getting some sort of 
  16. Health Club Facilities installed at work.  We happen to have about
  17. 55000 square feet of empty factory space at this time (although
  18. that could change at any time)  and I would like to 
  19. quantify a few things so that I can write a proposal to our
  20. recreational committee (love that beauracracy...)
  21.  
  22. 1) How many people out there on the net work for a company which:
  23.    a) provides in-building Health Facilities
  24.    b) subsidize or pay for membership fees to a private health club
  25.  
  26.    (this is basically a "keeping up with the Jone's" argument)
  27.  
  28. If you answer yes to the above question, could you please email me
  29. with the name of your company.  Also, if you don't feel that it is
  30. too obtrusive, please forward me a name and phone number of a 
  31. personnel administrator or Health Facilities administrator in your
  32. company so that I could ask some more specific questions.

  34. 2) If your company provides either (a) or (b) in #1 above, approx.
  35.    what percentage of the employee's at your company take advantage
  36.    of these Facilities/Subsidies?

  38. 3) Does anyone know of any articles/papers/books written quantifying:
  39.    a) increase in worker productivity due to use of Health Facilities
  40.    b) decrease in employee sick time claimed
  41.    c) decrease in premiums paid for employee medical insurance.

  45. The next step I will take after I get some responses from this post
  46. is to ask a random sample of our own employees what they think
  47. of the idea, and if they would use such a facility.

  49. Ironically, the biggest stumbling block will probably be the fact
  50. that our entire building has no, NOT EVEN ONE, shower in it.
  51. We have lots of floor space, but it's all tile- however we probably 
  52. have some old carpet we could throw down... we have lots of 
  53. office furniture (like walls, etc...) that could be used to cordon
  54. off an area.... all in all, this shouldn't be hard to pull off.
