- You better get him to correct it. Water under the house is an
- invitation for subterranean termites to invade. One of the things
- that termite inspectors inspect for is the POSSIBLE ways for water to
- enter. They don't care if it does not, but if it is possible, they
- correct the possibility. For example, I had one vent which was below
- grade. If the rain got on the ground down there, it was possible for
- it to dribble into the vent and hence into the crawlspace. They put
- some bricks cemented into the vent to bring it up 2" above grade.

- There may be other aesthetic reasons also, but this is a LEGAL reason
- to get him to correct it. If he will not, get termite companies
- involved. You may offer to pay them to do a pre-sale inspection. I
- am sure they will take your side if you point out water getting in.
