  22. I've just posted my fifth monthly Rainforest Action Network (RAN)
  23. bulletin to Usenet's talk.environment and alt.save.the.earth.
  24.  
  25. This month, the island of Yamdena is threatened with having 95%
  26. of its forest removed and the culture of its indigenous people destroyed.
  27.  
  28. Letters are needed.
  29.  
  30. The island is part of Indonesia, near East Timor.  The company that's
  31. about to destroy Yamdena's forest is owned by Liem Sioe Liong, who is
  32. one of the world's richest men, head of Indonesia's largest
  33. conglomerate, and President Suharto's economic advisor.

  35. I'm pleased to have permission from RAN, Greenpeace, Sierra Club Earthcare
  36. Appeals, Global Response, 20/20 Vision, etc. to post their letter-writing
  37. appeals to Usenet and seac+discussion.  It enables people who can't afford
  38. these bulletins to participate.
