Threatened and endangered birds seized by customs after being smuggled into the country will go to new homes.  13 exotic birds would go to aviaries in Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland. The customs department co-operated with other departments in a swoop that netted 57 birds smuggled into New Zealand.
