New Banknotes for New Zealand
Queen Elizabeth's head was on all the old notes but will be on the $20 note only. The $5 has Sir Edmund Hillary's head on it. He is famous for being one of the first two people to climb Mount Everest. Each note has a metallic security thread, and when you hold the note at an angle, the initials NZ can be seen. When you hold the note up to the light, you can see NZ ferns on the front and back which match. If you have a magnifying glass, you can see the tiny letter RBNZ for Reserve Bank of New Zealand. There
is also Intaglio(raised printing). The $5 also has the yellow eyed penguin which is one of New Zealand's endangered species and lives about 50 from our school.
