Dear Connie. Yes, we are in Taiwan and we really enjoy it. My wife, Lois and I lived in Seoul, Korea for 7 years before coming here and enjoyed Korea very much. We have two environmental groups at Taipei American School, a high school group of about 100 members and a middle school group of about 35 members. I am sponsor of the H.S. group while Lois is sponsor of the M.S. group. We both have very active co-workers from the faculty helping us. The school has quite an interest in environmental issues an
d has made environmental awareness a part of the curriculum. Our clubs are active in a number of ways from raising money for saving the rain forests ( the middle school raised enough last year to purchase over 130 acres through Nature Conservancy) to sponsoring our island-wide environmental conference (we had it Saturday - with about 400 students and teachers attending). and planning and running a global awareness week in the spring. We recycle papers for the school every Friday, have guest sepakers, a
nd try to keep contact with the (very cooperative) business community. That's it in a nut-shell. By the way, I ran into another thing you might be interested in. The Audubon Society has a wetlands activist kit available. It contains fact sheets, brocures, background articles, a two-sided, full color poster and a copy of the Audubon magazine on the topic. It is available from Information Services, National Audubon Society, 950 Third, Ave., New York, N.Y. 10022, and the cost is $4.95 with discounts for
bulk orders. Write again soon. I'm enjoying this. Yours, George
