- Much of autoconf's work involves finding routines that are missing on the
- host machine. It would seem to me that if the standard ones were included
- in libiberty.a (as many are) and autoconf checked for its presence when
- deciding which functions were missing, many packages could compile more
- easily on more machines. It just seems to me that since I DO in fact have,
- say, vprintf hanging around in libiberty.a, GNU programs should know to use
- it. I'm not saying that this should exclude the workarounds (ever looked
- at error.c?), but should be an available option.
