  21. the thumb of AT&T.

  23. There are enough talented people on this net who will work on 386BSD and 
  24. ports to other machines (In the last two days I've seen posts from people 
  25. who have a Sun 3 and HP 3000 who want 386BSD on them because they are 
  26. losing support) to keep it going. A example of good, "free" software 
  27. supported by the net and not-for-profit orig. is Elm and GNU gcc.

  29. Sun considers gcc to be a threat to it's own C compiler. Witness the 
  30. current issue of UNIX World (I think), there is an ad for Sun's C 
  31. compiler. In the ad they list the statement, "We got the compiler for free" 
  32. as being on of the three great lies in life. The other two being, "The 
  33. check is in the mail" and "There are no bugs in the code". I have also 
  34. heard horror stories from Sun sales people about gcc. Of course the 
  35. stories are AFOAF type and the stories were almost word-for-word repeats 
  36. from differnt sales people.

  38. Anybody in the Chicago or Minneapolis area (I live in Minneapolis and 
  39. work in Chicago) who wants a copy of 386BSD, send me email and we'll 
  40. swap tapes. Screw AT&T.
