- Hi !
-
- I want to buy a PC and hope to get some infos here ...
-
- First, I don't want to use DOS but Unix (perhaps BSD or so)
- as a cheap alternative to SUN Sparc (a complete Sparc workstation
- is yet out of reach).
- Now I wonder what quality the DX-50, DX2-50 and DX2-66 (?) reached
- so far and what experiences the people here have using a PC and
- some kind of Unix with X11 (what exactly are the differences between
- the above DX's ?).
- Did the new series of DX-xx reached a level of performance and
- hardware, so that you can say, they are realy realible, or are
- there still problems like chip-overheat, inconsistent hardware
- or other ?
-
- Ok, everybody using a PC will say, this is the best and don't want
- to admit some weaknesses, but what I need is a objective kind
- of view that gives me the chance to decide, if it's worth buying
- a PC for main Unix-use, or wait till prices for SUN Sparc / Clones
- decreaes, so that I can afford a workstation.
-
- Thanks in advance
