  14. I am seeking a modified version of the \cite macro, which enables
  15. citations of the form:
  16.    [Glotz: 179-181, Frog: 18-19, Toad 42]
  17. where:
  18. a. The page numbers appear as text in the \cite, so that several citations
  19.    can point to the same bibliographic entry, and avoid the dreaded 
  20.    ibid disease.

  22.   Vanilla LaTeX supports text, but only for a single entry, it appears.
  23.   If I use multiple \cite entries, I get brackets rather than commas
  24.   between entries.

  26. b. Is there a way to get the citations to break in mid-citation? Two-
  27.    column format stuff looks lousy because of LaTeX apparent refusal
  28.    to break a citation across two lines.

  30. c. Is there a simple way (other than modifying the \bibitem macro) to 
  31.    replace the brackets with some other character, such as nothing?
