-
- The betatest version of TeX386 in emTeX supports OS/2, with nearly all of
- the bells and whistles the rest of the emTeX package has, such as its
- splendid previewer (or at least that's the way I read the documentation as
- I don't use OS/2).
-
- The host and directory I am most familiar with insofar as being
- authoritative is:
- ftp.uni-stuttgart.de:/soft/tex/machines/pc/emtex/betatest
-
- We keep a close mirror (at least through the November 5, 1992 update; which
- I just checked prior to this post as being the most recent activity in that
- archive) on Niord.SHSU.edu:[FILESERV.EMTEX.BETATEST].
-
- Finally, since you are at a UK address, ftp.tex.ac.uk is a partial mirror
- of uni-stuttgart (which I believe Sebastian now has properly automated and
- know he's expanding on a nearly daily basis -- great work Sebastian!).
- Thus, you might try:
- ftp.tex.ac.uk:/pub/archive/systems/pc/emtex/betatest
-
- The latest LaTeX distribution (March 25, 1992) is also at these machines in:
- ftp.uni-stuttgart.de:/soft/tex/latex and its subdirectories, or in that
- directory as a compressed tar archive (latex.tar.Z)
- Niord.SHSU.edu:[FILESERV.LATEX] and its subdirectories (see the file
- 0000README.FTP_USERS in that directory for more information), or as
- a compressed tar archive (LATEX-MAR251992.TAR_Z) or a VMS backup
- saveset (LATEX-MAR251992.BCK)
- ftp.tex.ac.uk:/pub/archive/macros/latex and its subdirectories.
-
- The ftp.tex.ac.uk distribution appears to be one of March 18, 1992, and has
- a slight variation in its readme file -- it {\em may} not be the most up to
- date. One significant benefit of ftp.tex.ac.uk is that you can choose to
- tar, tar and compress, zip, zoo, or a few other things on the fly there, so
- you generqally don't find archive files, per se, on that machine since you
- can create your own. I hope to add this feature once we get our Unix ftp
- archive machine up and running.
-
- Finally, if you want to retrieve the March 25, 1992, release of LaTeX via
- e-mail, include:
- SENDME LATEX
- in the body of a mail message ot FILESERV@SHSU.BITNET (FILESERV@SHSU.edu).
