  12. A friend of mine invested some money to a sperry 5000/??? computer.
  13. It runs Sys Vr2.1 and has a tape drive installed. A few days it
  14. worked well and then came a problems: after power-up it gives
  15. following information:
  16. LOG TASK = SSKE,0
  17. ERROR CODE 1 = $0109
  18. AUTO TEST SEQUENCE
  19. TEST: IVT TOD EDC MMU MEM HIO 
  20. LOG TASK = HIO0,0
  21. ERROR CODE 1 = $C00A

  34. After that appears a menu that appears when machine is booted to 
  35. manual-state. About error-codes says manual the folloowing:

  37. 01xx SKE  (SUS Kernal)
  38. Cxxx HIO0 (High Performance 8-channel I/O Controller Level 0 Diagnostics)
  39. 05xx SSLS (SUS Load Supervisor)

  41. When we try "INSTALL SYSTEM" from that menu that appeared after power-up
  42. tells the computer:

  44. LOG TASK = SSST,0
  45. ERROR CODE 1 = $0609

  47. and manual says: $06xx SSST (Streaming Tape Loader)

  49. What could be broken? As far as I can remember the problem appeared
  50. when a rs-cable between console-terminal and that machine was
  51. accidentally pulled off from the plug when machine was up and running ..
  52. after that the machine didn't ever boot again :-(
  53. I can't see how a broken rs-cable could cause something to break down
  54. in a computer - can it break something?
  55. That machine claims that I/O-controller is broken - if it is, who
  56. would like to sell us new one ? :-)
