- A word of caution when ordering a Sparcstation 10:
-
- Sun is now shipping the Sparc 10's, but when I received mine I found out
- that Sun has apparently departed from their old standard of putting
- thickwire Ethernet ports on all their workstations. The Sparc 10 comes
- with twisted pair, standard! To connect thickwire, you need (surprise!)
- a $60 adaptor cable that turns the audio (AUI) port into a dual port
- (audio and thickwire Enet). Pretty bogus, huh?
-
- So be sure to budget an additional $60 (and order it *with* your box,
- or you'll wait 5 days for Sun"Express") if you don't use 10BASE-T (i.e.
- if your Sun is not a PC server).
-
- Just another example of expensive corporate silliness.
