- A customer of ours at a turn key network site is not satisfied with
- the Sparc2 being used as a net/nfs server for his PC's(using FTP's pctcp)
- and is making noise about putting in a Network Operating system such as
- Novel. His reasoning is ease of use/ admin simplicity/ etc.
-
- My question is that we have been installing TCP/IP with workstations for
- a long time but have never really had any experience with Novel (I know it
- may be hard to believe) and we were caught a bit flat footed. Though the
- system performs very well sometimes the onsite admin is gone and everyone
- else at the site has no idea what to do with the sparc2.
-
- How much easier would their lifes be with a Novel server handling the PC's?
-
- Any opinions on the Novel TCP/IP product?
-
- Does Novel handle any WAN issues? ppp, uucp (I know, but I had to ask)
-
- Has anyone made this type of transition before?
-
- Has anyone gone the other way (Novel to PCtcp)?
-
- Many thanks in advance!!!
