- Consider the Sharp Wizard 8000 series. These are organizers
- as opposed to PCs. They have up to 256K of RAM, and can
- accomodate plug-in cards for more RAM, or applications like
- spreadsheets, BASIC programming, FAX modem, etc. The link to
- PCs or Macs with ease for backup and file sharing. There are
- also many peripherals available, like tiny modems, litte
- bitty printers, external power packs, cases, cables, etc. I had
- an HP95lx, and got rid of it to replace it with the Wizard; as
- an organizer, I found the 95lx only so-so; the Wizard does
- *lots* more organizer-type stuff, and does it a *lot* better.
- As a PC, the 95lx is a disaster, imho. As long as you stick to
- programs created expressly for the 95lx, there is only
- about a 15% chance of the machine locking up and crashing
- the RAM-disk, but if you try virtually *any* program not
- specific to the 95, the odds of a lockup/reboot go to well
- over 50% in my experience. I found it very, very NON-robust.
- If you need a portable PC, you need a better one than the 95, and
- there are lots and lots of organizers out there that do that task
- better, too. Much of what I've just written is heresy on this
- newsgroup, where lot and lots of folks use and like the 95.
- These are just my humble opinions; your milage will
- undoubtedly vary.
