- I *think* these symtoms are consistent with the Finder crashing and
- being automatically restarted (I think the restart will be done under
- system 7, at least if no other application is running -- there are
- some utlities/hacks that ask the finder to quit, and it is restarted
- at some point. Which looks like what you say.)

- This suggests the data structures the Finder is seeing are wierd and
- cause it to die.

- Short of stepping thru it with Macsbug, I don't know if you can confirm
- this idea.
