  12. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions!  Oddly enough, the
  13. problem doesn't appear to have had anything to do with IRQs.

  15. I set the forms line in pconsole to "1", sent a job, and found
  16. pconsole complaining about "waiting for form".  This was reasonable,
  17. since I didn't have any forms defined - I was just randomly changing
  18. settings in the hopes that God would smile on me.  So I changed the setting
  19. back to "0" so pconsole would quit complaining.

  21. The job printed inside of 3 seconds.

  23. I've since sent 3 more jobs under two IDs with different privileges and
  24. every one of them has printed in under 3 seconds.  I have no idea why
  25. the forms setting would make a difference, but it did.  This was on a
  26. version 3.11 newly installed on a Gateway 486DX2 50, with the HP3SI 
  27. connected directly to LPT1, IRQ's set to "No", running off PSERVER.NLM 1.2.1.
  28. If I RPRINTER'd the thing from a workstation, it printed fine, but it
  29. took forever to print a job off the server.  No more than two workstations
  30. were ever attached to this server at any point during the print-testing.

  32. If anyone can tell me what the hell happened, I'd sure appreciate it.
  33. Until then, I'm not touching that machine again until I find out what
  34. mysterious flag I cleared by setting and clearing the "Forms" line
  35. in pconsole.
