  17. Regarding your freezing problems, I have a similar (but not so severe)
  18. problem with my PB170.  When the Command key is pressed too hard, or
  19. the case is pressed in the vicinity of the mouse, horizontal lines
  20. appear on the screen, and the machine may freeze.  Sometimes, pressing
  21. again will unfreeze it.

  23. I have been advised that this is caused by a defective oscillator
  24. connection or trace on the board, and that flexing the motherboard (by
  25. pressing on the case) causes intermittent disruptions of the system
  26. clock (or maybe the display sync?).

  28. I took this to a dealer, who claimed to have knowledge of this
  29. problem, but they couldn't repeat it.  The problem did go away for a
  30. while, presumably because they re-seated the boards, but now it is
  31. back.

  33. I like the machine, but it does have some problems.  Another one that
  34. you didn't mention is the lousy power supply.  I had to downgrade from
  35. an 80MB HD to a 40MB because the power supply can't produce enough
  36. peak current (> 2.0 Amps) to spin the drive up AND run my color card
  37. at the same time.
