- Currently my mac is connected to a Sun workstation via the Sun's and Mac's
- serial ports. I would like to use my mac as an X-Terminal for the Sun, but
- I can't use ethernet. Is there any way to do this with MacX or any other
- software?
-
- See the FAQ for comp.sys.mac.comm, available as:
- info-mac/report/comp-sys-mac-comm-faq.txt
- on your favorite infomac server
-
- I've heard I might be able to do this with slip. Has anyone had
- any experience doing this?
-
- See the FAQ for slip, too. I use PPP to connect my Sun to another Sun
- over a V32/V42bis modems, and it works pretty well for occasional use.
- The MacX server is surprisingly fast, so this won't slow you down, but
- the serial connection will (it's not the bandwidth, but the turnaround
- latency).
-
- Just out of curiosity: why isn't Ethernet an option. I use my PB170
- as an X-terminal on ethernet with an Asante SCSI box.
