- I realize that this subject has been mentioned before, but I can't find
- the response, so I'll try to keep it short.
-
- I have a Quadra 700 and IIci running 7.0.1 (w/ tuneup, A/ROSE etc...).
- Both are connected to Ethernet. The Quadra through the built in, the IIci
- through an Asante card. There is also a Personal Laserwriter NT. Due to
- idiocy beyond my control, the networked macs are using Ethertalk 1.2. Both
- also have MacTCP.
-
- Before the Macs were connected to Ethernet, both were connected to the
- printer through localtalk, and everything was fine. Now they are connected
- through Ethertalk (as mentioned earlier). When I connect the printer to
- either machine through localtalk and choose localtalk in the Network
- control panel, the printer appears and can be selected in the Chooser.
- When I try to print, I get the message 'Printer not found'. Doesn't
- matter if printing is direct or spooled. Both machines also have ARA
- installed.
-
- To make life more interesting, the way I print now is: (please don't giggle)
- Connect a PB170 to the Quadra/IIci and the printer through localtalk.
- Select localtalk on the Quadra/IIci, xfer the file to the PB170 and print
- from the powerbook. I understand that there is some conflict in the
- Quadra/IIci and some fix available. Any suggestions?
