  12. I have been having an unusual problem.  I have System 7.0.1 and a Macintosh
  13. Classic with 4/40.  Whenever I place a DA on my System Folder the usual 
  14. message comes up saying that the item will be moved to the Apple Menu Items
  15. folder.  But when I try to use the DA that I have just put in, the computer
  16. says that the DA doesn't exist.  When I go to the Apple Menu Items folder, the 
  17. DA is gone.  I have also tried restarting the machine before trying the DA, but
  18. it still disappeared.  Even when I manually put it in the Apple Menu Items 
  19. folder, it disappeared after shutting off the machine and starting it up again.
  20. Finally, I put the actual DA in a separate folder, locked it, aliased it, put
  21. the alias in the Apple Menu Items folder, and locked it.  This seems to work.
  22. Does anyone know why I should have this much trouble trying to get a DA on my
  23. system?
