- Thanks to everyone who gave me information on the memory configurations
- for the Mac/SE. However, we are still having problems. Can anyone
- give me some help on the following problems.
-
- 1. Using System 6.05, how do you tell how much memory
- the machine thinks it has (from the software side)?
- The machine is not running multi-finder.
-
- 2. My husband and brother-in law tried to install 2 meg sims in
- the Mac/SE, but did not get the expected results. They did the
- following:
-
- 1. Installed 2, 1 meg sims in slots 3 & 4 (256k simms
- still is slots 1 & 2) and cut the resistor that is
- used for the 256k simms.
-
- 2. Turned on the power and the screen came up with a
- checker board pattern and the happy Mac face but
- nothing else.
-
- 3. They then moved the 1 meg simms to slots 1 & 2 and
- put the 256k simms back in slots 3 & 4.
-
- 4. The machine booted up OK, but I don't believe that
- the machine registered the memory because when
- we tried to run an application called "Carmen Santiego"
- (it requires at least 2 megs of memory) the program gave
- a "virtual memory must be turned off" error.
-
- I don't believe that a Mac SE supports virtual memory. Have you
- seen this before?
-
- Thanks, Yvonne Tornatta
