- Since I'm responsible for starting this thread, I guess I'll follow up
- by telling people my experience:
-
- I have received responses from people quoting anything from "no idea" to
- "six to eight weeks" to "December 31" for new Macs. I have heard that Apple
- is having trouble obtaining CD-ROM drives in quantity from Sony, but I
- generally discount this, as they seem to be shipping equal numbers of CD and
- non-CD IIvx models.
-
- Here's what happened to me: I ordered a IIvx/CD and 14" monitor on Oct. 21.
- They arrived Nov. 19 -- one month minus two days later. By this time, I had
- given up on the IIvx as taking too long and being really more than I could
- afford and changed my order to a LCII 4/160. Which I am still waiting for.
- The monitor hasn't come in, either.
-
- Apple, take better care of us students! We're young; we have the most
- computer-buying years ahead of us! Also, frankly, the longer I wait, the
- less expensive computer I'll settle for, and I'll spend the extra $1000 on
- Microsoft Word 23.7.w instead of Apple hardware and peripherals. Take that!
